TRAINING SKILLS OPEN FOR ENROLMENT

At Churchill Contractors, individuals interested in pursuing a career in construction work have the opportunity to enroll in various training courses, such as Brickwork.

We can help you learn skills like bricklaying from scratch or polish your skills if you’re a worker from the construction or civil industries. Through this course, you can enhance your technical skills, safety training, quality assurance, soft skills, green building practices, entrepreneurship, and business skills. This training will assist you in identifying opportunities both in India and abroad.

Here, you can lay a strong foundation for a well-paying and respectable blue-collar job and make your dream of working come true.

Each training batch is required to attend for 4-6 months.

Training time is divided into 4 stages:

STAGE 1: Yellow group– After practicing block work, trainees can lay between 150 and 180 blocks per day.

STAGE 2: Black group– After practicing brickwork, trainees can lay between 400 and 450 bricks per day.

STAGE 3: Green group: Practice building the house with the help of an instructor.

STAGE 4: Orange group: Practice building the house without any help.

TRAINING LESSONS FOR BRICKLAYERS

How to mix a Mortar

The first lesson in bricklaying involves learning how to mix muck and determining the appropriate ratio to add. Keep in mind the process of creating muck.

Mortar (Muck) Rolling

The beginning of your course will include learning the skill of muck rolling. We will dedicate a total of two days to this task. You will practice applying the muck to blocks and bricks.

You are using filtered, extremely smooth muck in the skill center. We avoid lumps when mixing the muck. We always ensure the muck is smooth enough to work like butter. We consistently blend the muck using muck mixers.

Installing Lintel on Windows & Doors

a) Lintel comes in various forms and helps in supporting the structure above the windows and doors and extracting the water through weep vents.
b) Leveling the block and brickwork and adding lintels to both walls.

Starting Brickwork

We set up iron/aluminum profiles, secure them to the block work using a clamp, ensure alignments using plumb, level, and string lines, and then proceed to lay the bricks in a precise manner. Install weep holes every two bricks, spaced 450 millimeters apart.

Pillars

The task of laying the brickwork for piers, arches, gables, starate walls, and expansion walls requires precision and meticulous care. This course specifically focuses on teaching how to develop bricklaying techniques, including proper jointing, measuring, measuring, and leveling.

Building Corners with DPC

Corners play a crucial role in construction projects. This course will teach you how to install alternate fittings using blocks of any size.

How to install a dampproof course in the corner and strate wall and what is their importance in construction.

Mortar Joints in Brickwork

This section teaches you how to joint blocks and bricks with the help of a jointer, then skillfully fill up the joints of each block or brick with mortar, leaving no gaps between the blocks and brick joints, thus making it aesthetically pleasing.

Brushing Up the Joints

After completing the jointing work and allowing the wall to dry, use a trawel to cut off any excess mortar, then brush the wall to ensure a neat and tidy appearance.

Building Houses

This section teaches you how to joint blocks and bricks with the help of a jointer, then skillfully fill up the joints of each block or brick with mortar, leaving no gaps between the blocks and brick joints, thus making it aesthetically pleasing.

Fixing Ties

This lesson in the training course will instruct students on how to raise the walls from the base. We will equip the students with knowledge about the pillars, how to place the ties, and the vertical straightness of walls. Getting the right height of the walls is also a crucial part of learning and training.

The tie’s role is to strengthen and support the structure as it gains height. We will teach you how to locate them at the correct distances.

Laying to a Line

Students learn skill and speed by running the block work under a string line within the allotted time. We lay the DPC (Damp proof course) on top of the second blockwork course.

You will ensure that you are building in accordance with the measurements and that they are stratified and leveled.

Expansion Joint & Split Tie Fitting

We teach the importance of safety between houses by fixing and fitting the expansion foam and splitting ties according to the architect’s design and standards. We install an expansion foam in the brickwork and place slip ties every 450 millimeters, or six courses of bricks.

DPC on the lintel

After installing the lintel, cover it with the DPC and start building both walls up. Soldier course is laid on the top of the lintel and DPC. The placement of weep holes occurs every 450 millimeters.
